Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio

This is Jazz News, a look at what’s news in jazz, music, and the arts.

Did we mention this summer’s 40th Anniversary concert at Levitt Pavilion on July 11? Save the Date! It’s Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio with ManyColors! You’ll be hearing more about that show as we celebrate our 40th anniversary all spring and summer! Let me drop a few more names, because the schedule for the upcoming City Park Jazz series has dropped. Ten weeks, on Sunday evenings starting at 6 p.m., beginning June 1 with Zimbabwean singer-percussionist Blessing Bled Chimanga. On June 8, Karen Lee Bridge and The Bridge 12 lead a tribute to the late great bandleader Neil Bridge. There’s another jazz jam location in Denver (they’re popping up all over the place!). The Ivory Jones Jazz Collective Quintet is the house band at a Tuesday night jazz jam at Monolith Brewing, 1290 South Broadway at Louisiana in Denver.

It’s been called one the best kept secrets in jazz. For the second year in a row, the Music Performance Trust Fund reports a $1 million investment in communities that are celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month – April - in 2025. Trustee Dan Beck says, “Regional pockets of live jazz are alive and well across North America, and the local offices of the American Federation of Musicians do a tremendous job of organizing these performances.” (SOURCE: AllAboutJazz / Recording Industry's Music Performance Trust Fund Projects / Jazz Appreciation Month 2025)

Heads up! The 2025 International Jazz Day Global Host City and All-Star Concert is in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Artist line-up and other details for the annual April 30th event to come. (SOURCE: Jazz Day)
