Muse Jazz Jam
| The Muse Performance Space
We are delighted to present northern Colorado favorite Stuart MacAskie as he pays tribute to one of the most influential jazz pianists of all time: Bud Powell. An often underappreciated figure in the history of American music, Powell’s contribution to bebop and the development of jazz piano is hard to overstate. It continues to inspire musicians to this day.
Stu MacAskie is a pianist/organist/keyboardist/singer based in Denver, Colorado. Playing jazz and pop music with equal authority, he has graced the finest stages in the region, including featured performances at Popejoy Hall, The Lensic, The Outpost, The Macey Center, The Western New Mexico Fine Arts Center, The National Hispanic Cultural Center and many more performance venues large and small. He has performed in Europe and Southeast Asia and toured the United States from coast to coast. His eight years as a part of the music scene in New York City sharpened his skills, preparing him for work in jazz, pop, and classical circles. Jazz artists that he has performed with include Frank Morgan, Bill Watrous, the New York Voices, Antonio Hart, and Bobby Shew; pop artists include Sparx, Patti Page, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Susan Lucci, Khadijah Ibrahim, and Stepfanie Kramer. Since arriving in Denver, he has performed at Dazzle, Nocturne, The Crimson Room, and many more venues.
