Arturo Gómez
Arturo was the Music Director for KUVO Jazz for over 21 years. He was named Cultural Ambassador in September 2024 as part of KUVO Jazz’s 40th Anniversary. Before that, Arturo was the Music Director of Miami’s jazz station for 13 years. He was fortunate to have been raised listening to the progressive radio stations of Los Angeles, instilling in him a love and knowledge of many music styles while his parents hosted many a Cuban music dance party during his formative years.
An award-winning Music Director, Arturo Gómez has been awarded Music Director of the Year on six occasions and has also been the recipient of the prestigious Duke Dubois Lifetime Achievement and Bobby Jackson Jazz Ambassador honors. He has also received Letters of Commendation from the International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE), the House of Representatives, and the
UNESCO International Jazz Day. Arturo brings an enthusiastic and passionate approach to the airwaves and to streaming audiences. Arturo has represented KUVO Jazz as one of the organizers of the annual Five Points Jazz Festival, Denver Five Points Business District, Denver Arts and Venues, and other community events.
Arturo proudly states, “Jazz is my favorite four-letter word and the world’s greatest art form.”
