Brazilian Guitarist, Gabriel Santiago joins Paul Donovan
Brazilian guitarist Gabriel Santiago will join Evening Jazz host Paul Donovan today, Friday, April 11 at 4 p.m.
A native of Brazil, Gabriel is a distinguished composer, arranger, and virtuoso on both acoustic and electric guitars.
Renowned as "a young master at both the acoustic and electric guitars", Santiago's musical journey includes mentorships from Pat Metheny, Adam Rogers, and Maria Schneider. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award. Notably, Santiago holds a Doctoral Degree in Music Composition from the University of Texas at Austin.
Gabriel Santiago is also a versatile composer, from Symphony Orchestras to Jazz Combos and everything in between. His compositions, influenced by Brazilian Music, Jazz, and Classical Music, resonate across various media.
The Gabriel Santiago Orchestra is a vibrant and dynamic jazz ensemble that fuses the deep tradition of big band jazz with the rhythmic pulse and melodic richness of Brazilian music. Gabriel leads the orchestra, bringing a fresh and modern voice to the large ensemble format. With tight horn arrangements, intricate grooves, and soaring improvisations, the Gabriel Santiago Orchestra delivers an electrifying sound that bridges the worlds of jazz and Brazilian music.
The Orchestra performs on Saturday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Dazzle.
