Thank you to those who supported KUVO JAZZ on Colorado Gives Day!
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
"The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece "big band" featuring contemporary big-band jazz played by some of Denver’s finest jazz musicians. Their selections are never predictable, always hold your interest, and blow you away with intensity and excitement. The MJO considers the audience as an integral part of the show so expect “stories,” humor, scary-good charts, and a very enjoyable evening!"
Woody Herman, born Woodrow Charles Herman on May 16, 1913, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was an American jazz clarinetist, saxophonist, singer, and big band leader. His father’s love for show business influenced him from an early age, leading him to perform as a singer and tap dancer in vaudeville by age six. Herman began playing the clarinet and saxophone at 12 and joined his first band, the Tom Gerun band, in 1931.
