Thank you to those who supported KUVO JAZZ on Colorado Gives Day!
For our Summit County Listeners: The KVJZ 91.7FM transmitter site on Bald Mountain experienced a catastrophic power line failure. Because of the high elevation and winter conditions, repairs won’t be possible until next summer. Stream KUVO JAZZ on our website, the app, or your smart speaker.
Drummer/bassist, composer, and bandleader extraordinaire Brian Claxton returns to the Nocturne stage to lead a showstopping band celebrating the Northern Colorado funk scene. Claxton, on bass, will be joined by an all-star lineup of Front Range musicians, including Steve Kovalcheck (guitar), Eric Gunnison (piano), Drew Zaremba (organ), and Jim White (drums).
Award-winning drummer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Brian Claxton is known for his electrifying groove and rhythmic mastery. An old soul and passionate student of the history of American music, Claxton has navigated a career with one foot in the past and one foot in the future and has a musical voice that is as diverse as his performance experience. Claxton teaches at the University of Northern Colorado and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. In 2020, Claxton released his first record as a leader, When I Get Home, featuring Tamir Hendelman, Graham Dechter, and Jon Hamar, produced by maestro Jeff Hamilton.
