Born and raised in Denver, CO, Daryl was born into a musical family who nurtured and supported his love of music. Daryl began playing piano as a young child and took up saxophone in the fifth grade. Throughout high school, he took part in the mentorship program of Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts (jazzarts.org) where he was exposed to a high level musicianship and made lifelong connections with musicians he still plays with. He went on to study at The City College of New York where he studied with the likes of Jon Gordon, John Patitucci and Jason Rigby among others.
After graduating, Daryl moved back to Denver where he has been working as a professional musician and teaching private lessons as well as for Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts.
