Studio Flo - Musicians and community members are frequently invited on-air for live interviews to talk about upcoming performances or local news.

The AMP Trio featuring Tahira Clayton will perform for KUVO Studio Club on Wednesday, May 23 from 4 to 5pm in the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio. They are poised to reach new heights after being named the winner of the 2017 DCJazzPrix and earning an invitation to the 2018 DC Jazz Festival. Their most recent record, Three, was highlighted by a Japanese tour that included a cultural exchange workshop sponsored by the US Consulate of Sapporo.

 

KUVO Studio Club: Dinosaurchestra | May 18

KUVO welcomes Dinosaurchestra to the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Friday, May 18 at 2:15 to 3pm. Dinosaurchestra is a New Orleans band, est. in 2014, playing a rich mixture of the Crescent City's sounds from the last century. You can hear influences ranging from Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, and Duke Ellington to Fats Domino and David Bartholomew. We have also been known to, on occasion, 'genre bend' to the reaches of Rhythm and Blues to some Classical Music.

KUVO Studio Club: Lenore Raphael | May 16

KUVO welcomes Lenore Raphael to the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Wednesday, May 16 - 11:30am to noon. Jazz pianist Steinway artist, jazz teacher and radio host Lenore Raphael has toured the world playing many renowned jazz venues and venues such as Jazz At Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland and festivals such as The London Jazz Festival, Tel Aviv Jazz Festival, Joy of Jazz in South Africa and many more.

The Azucartones will be in KUVO's Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio on Tuesday, May 8 from 7pm to 8pm with host Geoff Anderson.

Wait a second. . .there’ s a school in Colorado with an AfroCuban band? I thought music funding was being cut in schools? You would think so, but the Azucartones is a young AfroCuban band based right here in Colorado.

They are part of the Downbeat award-winning Commercial Music Program at the Kent Denver School.  They pack the dance floor playing the music of Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Willie Colon, Fania All-Stars, and others.
