Denver-based hip-hop artist and food activist, DJ Cavem joins Carlos Lando and Mindi McNeil this Wednesday, June 7 on “First Take with Lando and Chavis.” Besides spinning turntables and CDs, Cavem has found a way to get sound out of fruits and vegetables.  What does that sound like?

On Wednesdays, Chavis hosts Eats & Beats, a segment related to food, restaurants, chefs and all things gastronomic.

Celestial Seasonings was a forerunner in the now-crowded herbal tea space, but enduring numerous changes in its ownership and the marketplace,  is Charlie Baden, blendmaster.  As the brand returns to its classic, artsy packaging, Baden talked with Steve Chavis from “First Take with Lando and Chavis.” "They (consumers) would look on the shelf, and be looking right at our tea and not see it,” explained Baden.  The artwork and metaphysical quotes are back on the boxes.  As blendmaster, Baden is responsible for ensuring that the Celestial Seasonings standard of tea is upheld with every batch.

Cafe Brazil Chef Tony Zarlenga visited Eats & Beats to share one of their signature dishes: cold smoked blackened sakura pork tenderloin, sliced mid to mid-rare, with a sweet hot strawberry rhubarb glaze. 

This dish features heritage breed pork from Iowa. 

"Starting with quality ingredients is key...it really is half the battle," said Tony. 

In it's 25th year, Cafe Brazil brings passion to its contemporary South American dishes.
