This week on the Wednesday “Night Beat – Jazz Beyond Category,” host Doug Crane will honor the work of composer and pianist Michel Legrand, who died on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at age 86.

Legrand’s acclaim came mostly from his film scores, including tunes that became standards, “Windmills of Your Mind” from “The Thomas Crown Affair” and “The Summer Knows” from “Summer of ’42.” Legrand’s work earned him three Oscars, five Grammys, two Palmes d’Or, a BAFTA, and a Golden Globe.

Doug will also include Legrand jazz recordings from 1958 and 1972, including collaborators Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, and Sarah Vaughan.

Don’t miss The Night Beat with Doug Crane this Wednesday night at 8 pm, only on KUVO Jazz.
