Believe or not, there is still housing discrimination in 2014. 

  

In this interview, Christina Miranda, Fair Housing Specialist from the Denver Metro Fair Housing Center, shared the results of a recent investigation, "Access Denied: A Report on Rental Housing Discrimination in the Denver Metro Area."  

The DMFHC documented discrimination against Latinos (91 percent of the time) and African-Americans (67%), and also against people with children (73%).  Offenders can face federal lawsuits.  

KUVO's film commentary "Jazz on Film" highlights the 2004 Murray Lerner documentary "Miles Electric: A Different Kind of Blue."  Matthew Goldwasser breaks the voodoo down with Carlos and Steve Thursday, Feb. 13 at 8:35 a.m. on First Take!

Written for Broadway by Burton Lane and Alan Jay Lerner, On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever) is featured this week on "Stories of Standards." The great American songbook jazz interpretations of the song continues to be explored on First Take with Lando and Chavis! The musical with music by Lane and a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner based loosely on Berkeley Square (written in 1929 by John L. Balderson) concerns a woman who has ESP and has been reincarnated.

DSA Jazz Workshop Orchestra

Tune in to KUVO/KVJZ on Tuesday, February 18 at 7pm when Geoff Anderson welcomes the Denver School of the Arts Jazz Workshop Orchestra to the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio. The band is performing as part of KUVO's High School/Collegiate Series. Eighteen DSA students, led by Director of Bands Dave Hammond, will take the stage for an hour.
