Wulfie’s Wax Museum: Presenting Thad Jones–Mel Lewis & “The Jazz Orchestra”

Tonight, on “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” as we take a listen to Presenting Thad Jones–Mel Lewis & “The Jazz Orchestra,” the Village Vanguard’s Monday night band’s debut studio recording, from May, 1966. This LP was recorded just three months after the group’s opening night performance in February, 1966. This recording is on the “Solid State” record label, claiming to have achieved sonic excellence by the use of recording “exclusively with transistorized equipment on twenty eight channels.”  Join host Michael Wulfsohn tonight, Monday, December 18 at 8pm on the Night Beat on KUVO Jazz.
