Join host Michael Wulfsohn for “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” on the next Monday Night Beat, as we take a listen to Les McCann’s groundbreaking album, “Layers,” masterfully introducing synthesizers and various electronic keyboards into the realm of “pure” jazz and blues music, not“jazz-fusion”.  As a self-proclaimed “jazz-soul” artist, Les creates a new sound in his music on this 1973 LP release, unlike anything he had previously recorded, and in complete contrast to his best-selling album from 1969, “Swiss Movement.”  It’s got beat, it’s got relaxing mellowness, and it swings, too.
