Join host Michael Wulfsohn tonight for “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” on the Monday Night Beat, as we go back to 1975, and take a listen to a studio recording of virtuoso jazz violinist, Jean-Luc Ponty, leading a quintet featuring one of funkiest women in Jazz, Patrice Rushen on keyboards. We’ll hear Side 1 of the 1976 Atlantic Records LP, “Aurora,” and hear one of jazz fusion’s pioneers cut loose on the fiddle, incorporating electronic effects, with some funky grooves, in a very tight, high-energy ensemble. This album was his 13th as a leader and his 3rd release after emigrating with his family from France to L.A.

Tune in tonight, Monday, November 12 at 8 pm for the Monday Night Beat, on KUVO Jazz.
