Wulfie’s Wax Museum: 4×4 – McCoy Tyner
Join Michael Wulfsohn for the next “Wulfie’s Wax Museum,” on the Monday Night Beat, as we celebrate the birthday of Bop and Progressive Jazz vibraphonist, Bobby Hutcherson, in a Quartet setting led by the pioneering, post-Bop, cutting-edge pianist, McCoy Tyner. This 1980 Double-LP release is entitled, “4×4,” on the Milestone label, and goes back nearly 38 years. This is McCoy’s 31st date as a leader, featuring four different Quartet personnel, one on each side of both records. Joining McCoy and Bobby in this Quartet are bassist Cecil McBee, and drummer Al FosterI.
Tune in Monday, January 28 at 8 pm for “Wulfie’s Wax Museum” on the next Monday Night Beat, on KUVOJazz.
