Women’s Suffrage
On November 7, 1893, Colorado became the first state in the nation to grant women’s suffrage by popular vote, and the following year the first three female state legislators were elected. This proud achievement was result of nearly 15 years of struggle and dedication. Tenacious Coloradans across the state shouted “Let the women vote! They can’t do any worse than the men!” as they marched door-to-door in churches, mining towns and farming communities. Join the movement in this episode of Colorado Experience.
