KUVO updates its weekend programming lineup with the return of a classic, a host shuffle, and something very new.  Saturday morning at 6am on begins with “Breakfast Jazz with J.J.” Then, “Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz” rejoins our airwaves at 8.

“The Mayor of Oasis-ville” Ed Danielson returns to host the jazz on Saturday mornings at 9, and Gabriel swings you into the afternoon.  Allen Scott also shares Saturday afternoon hosting duties with a newer voice, Djamila Ricciardi. “All Blues” counts off two hours of blues at 4pm, followed by the “R & B Jukebox” at 6.  Good golly!

“Groove Jazz Rendezvous” with Adam Morgan highlights the best in smooth jazz and soul starting Saturday nights at 8, followed by NPR’s “Jazz Night in America” at 10, hosted by bassist Christian McBride.

(NEW!) Saturday nights at 11, “Cool Jazz Countdown” premieres on KUVO with hosts Marcellus “The Bassman” Shepard and Kyle LaRue running down the top jazz tracks in the nation.

Saturday night. Midnight. Or is it Sunday? However you look at it, it’s fresh, as in “SoulFRESH” with DJ Bella Scratch and co-hosts Vince J. and Skeletor, from midnight to 2am, transcending the typical soul genre with remixes, mashups, breaking artists, exclusives and trending conversation!  Beginning at 2am Sunday, the jazz is hosted by Greg Bridges and Lee Thomas.

(NEW!) Sunday mornings at 6, KUVO is proud to present Peabody Award-winning host Maria Hinojosa’s “Latino USA.”  At 7, “InDigitNess Voice” presents the spectrum of music, news, culture and events from Native America. The dean of KUVO volunteer hosts is Jack Mudry, with his bi-lingual Latin music and news show “La Nueva Voz” at 8.  How does KUVO do inspiration? “The Gospel Train” with Deborah Walker at 9.

KUVO’s flagship program “Cancion Mexicana” is a living three-decade tradition on Denver’s airwaves. From 10am to 1pm Sunday, tune in for the best in Latin music from Colorado, Nuevo Mexico, Tejano, and more.  At 1, Latin rock authority “Pocho Joe” hosts “La Raza Rocks.”

(NEW!) Sundays, “La Raza Rocks” will now be followed by NPR’s showcase of new alternative Latin music from around the world, “Alt. Latino,” including diverse genres such as cumbia, Mexican garage rock, Panamanian rap, heavy metal mariachi and many more boundary-blurring sounds from around the world, plus interviews and insightful conversation about Latin events and culture. “Alt. Latino” is hosted by Felix Contreras and Jasmine Garsd. From 3 to 4pm, the musical journey continues with “Afropop Worldwide” hosted by Georges Collinet.

Live and local, noted Colorado-based conguera Janine Santana hosts “Salsa con Jazz,” a two-hour celebration of the moods, tempos, styles, legacy and new interpreters of Latin jazz, from 4 to 6pm.  A soothing favorite at KUVO, Cenir hosts “Brazilian Fantasy” from 6 to 8.

The weekend ends with jazz on a literary tip, “The Nightside with Andy O” from 8pm to midnight.  It’s fantastic Jazz from Armstrong to Zorn, spoken word from poetry to storytelling, interviews, features and fun from the bassist, band leader and poet himself.
