This week on the Vinyl Vault, Arturo Gómez will host for a vacationing Geoff Anderson. His Vinyl Vault feature will be a rare Monty Alexander Trio recording from 1971: “With Love.”

This out-of-print LP has never been re-issued on CD. It’s on the now defunct Pausa Records label out of Glendale, CA. Monty on piano is accompanied by the long-time Dave Brubeck bassist “The Senator”-Eugene Wright and noted drummer, Bobby Durham. The LP was recorded live at the Monticello Inn of Rochester, NY.

The album’s song list consists of a few standards, popular tunes of the time and a few originals by Monty.
