Vinyl Vault — Patrice Rushen, “Shout It Out”

Things will get funky on the next Vinyl Vault which will feature the third album from keyboardist Patrice Rushen entitled “Shout It Out.” It was her last album on the Prestige record label and before her career took a very commercial (but successful) turn.

The album features some serious funk as well as soul, jazz, and R&B influences. Throughout, Rushen’s keyboard playing shines through on top of top flight backing from the likes of James Gadson, Bill Summers, Larry Nash, and Tom Scott among others.
