KUVO JAZZ Acknowledges National Autism Month

Tree King Host of Mid-Morning Jazz will be showcasing musicians on the autism spectrum with the tunes they created!

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability caused by differences in the brain. Some people with ASD have a known difference, such as a genetic condition. Other causes are not yet known.

The autism rate in Colorado is 1 in 101 children (or 9.9 per 1,000 8-year-olds) identified with ASD. This estimate is lower than the average number of children identified with ASD (1 in 68) in all areas of the United States where CDC tracks ASD.

On Tuesday, April 25, Tree’s special guest will be her son Myles King, who wrote a song for National Autism Month several years ago titled “Love Happiness & Autism.” Check out the video on YouTube. He was diagnosed with (ASD) at the age of 3 and a half. Myles will be 33 on the 29th of April. He celebrates all month long! Myles has worked for the ARC Thrift stores for 9 years. In February he was awarded Employee of the Month.  In 2018 he was awarded the Ambassador of the year. He wrote an incredible speech that gave him a standing ovation!

Myles also deals Blackjack for two private companies on the weekends and performs on Sunday mornings at his church when needed.

2004 – Artwork on display at Children’s Hospital for National Autism Month

2006 – Teens with Special Needs Documentary by Sixth Street Productions.

2008 – Received Highest Honors in music during his senior year at South High School, and performed with the jazz band during his graduation ceremony.

2011 – Co-Hosted Autism Speaks Walk in Denver and performed his song “Love Happiness and Autism”.

2016 – VSA International Young Soloist awards, outstanding submission.

2018 – ARC Ambassador of the Year
