The Squirrel Nut Zippers are in Colorado this weekend for performances in Steamboat Springs, Boulder, and Breckenridge. Inspired by the New Orleans jazz scene, the Zippers formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and are a nostalgic revitalization of pre-war America. Having performed at major events such as the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and Bill Clinton’s inaugural ball, the band is well-loved across the country for its unique fusion of musical styles and for incorporating a dedication to authenticity and storytelling. In the words of band leader James “Jimbo” Mathus – “music tells the story.”
