The Night Beat—The Recording Legacy of Curtis Fuller
Your host Doug Crane will look back at the recording legacy of trombonist Curtis Fuller. He passed away on May 8, at the age of 88. How to sum up Curtis’s playing? Whether it was working with John Coltrane, Art Farmer, Art Blakey, Joe Henderson, Keith Oxman, or other jazz greats, he always made any recording he appeared on sound better.
As Doug is a trombonist himself, he owns a number of obscure Curtis Fuller CDs and LPs that he’ll feature on tonight’s show. Expect to hear from Curtis in the company of Cedar Walton, Jimmy Heath, Kai Winding, Lenny White, Stanley Clarke vocalist Judy Niemack and many others.
Tune in to The Night Beat tonight, Wednesday, May 19 at 8 pm.
