The Night Beat Remembers Stephen Sondheim
Join Doug Crane as he hosts a two-hour remembrance of Stephen Sondheim on Wednesday, December 8, beginning at 8 pm on The Night Beat. Praised for re-inventing American Musical Theatre, in the second half of the 20th century, he received eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, an Oscar, a Kennedy Center Lifetime Achievement Honor, a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Featured artists will include Bill Charlap, Cassandra Wilson, Mark Murphy, Lea DaLaria, Cyrille Aimee, Marian McPartland, Cheryl Bentyne performing songs from Sondheim musicals such as “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd”, “Company”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, “Into the Woods”, “Evening Primrose”, “A Little Night Music”, “Merrily We Roll Along” and “Follies”.
