The Jazz River: My East is Your West

From the Beatles and the Byrds in rock to Vijay Iyer and Rudresh Mahanthappa in jazz, Western musicians have used drones and the raga format to thoroughly explore how Indian music–Hindustani and Carnatic–can be incorporated into their own creations. The Jazz River showcases both styles with examples of early fusion pioneers along with some of the best young players from the U.S., Britain, and India who are taking it in new and exciting directions.
