Tune in to The Gospel Train on Sunday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. as host Deborah Walker interviews Pastor Daryl Walker.

Pastor Walker is the minister of music for the stage production “Black Nativity” playing at The Vintage Theatre from November 29 to December 29.

Black Nativity, the joyous holiday musical, is a modern retelling of the traditional account of the Nativity story from an African American perspective.

Using gospel music, African beats, dramatic dance, and a biblical narrative Black Nativity opened for a limited run of 57 performances at Broadway’s 41st St. Theatre on December 11, 1961. It was written and conceived by one of the legendary leaders of the Harlem Renaissance: Black playwright, poet, novelist, and social activist Langston Hughes.

Why should audiences come and see Black Nativity? What makes this show unique?
Vintage Theatre’s 2024 Black Nativity Performance is one for the ages! It’s a happy show! A family show! Directed by a Living Legend of our Theatrical Community, Jo Bunton Keel!!

The uniqueness is in the Celebration of Langston Hughes’ traditional classic with an added contemporary twist!

With the perils of warring and politics in our world! Vintage Theatre’s 2024 Black Nativity offers an opportunity to come and find Peace and Blessings! And rekindle the joy of Celebration!!
