Super Sonido y Lido Pimienta

To close out Women’s History Month, Super Sonido features the music of Lido Pimienta.

Lido Pimienta has one of the most unique and memorable voices in music today, which makes her a favorite collaborator for everyone from Chancha Via Circuito and El Remolon to A Tribe Called Red. She is a large presence in her collaborations but it is her songwriting that makes her such a force.

She writes honest music that you feel in your gut. She isn’t afraid to explore the dirty reality of the human experience. She doesn’t write for you to escape, she writes to celebrate oft unspoken shared experiences.

She examines the loneliness of motherhood, the suffocating oppression of toxic relationships, and the myth of racial equality. She explores topics many of us would rather leave to the darkness, but she does so with such beauty and tenderness that you want to keep finding the light.
