Sam Mayfield Talk About Long-time Bandmate Solomon Burke
Solomon Burke was born on March 21, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Known as one of the founding fathers of soul in the 1960’s, he has been called “a key transitional figure bridging R&B and soul.” He left his legacy with several hits including “Cry to Me”, “If You Need Me”, “Got to Get You Off My Mind”, “Down in the Valley”, and “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”.
On the show this morning, musician and KUVO host Sam Mayfield joined us to share memories of playing music with “King Solomon” on the date of his birth.
