Salute to Creative Aging: Tech Trek | May 12
The 2018 Salute to Creative Aging event theme is “Tech Trek”. Join the fun and help us celebrate the many creative aspects of life enriching experiences, discovering new activities, pursuing creative ventures and enjoying leisure time.
This year exhibitors will be on hand with valuable resources and information. Each exhibitor offers services particularly applicable to older adults. Those who attend will find information about many helpful resources such as financial services, home care, legal services, tech services, transportation, independent living, pet services and recreational activities, just to mention a few.
In addition to the resource fair, a full day of entertainment is planned. Headlining the entertainment
lineup for the day is The Jerseys, an 8-piece band specializing in the best of Franki Valli & The Four Seasons. Their music also covers the best of the 60’s and 70’s, Beach and classic rock. The Jerseys come with a wonderful rhythm section, including five amazing singers up front that perform the music of Franki Valli & The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, The Dave Clark Five and much, much more.
More great music is in store at the Salute to Creative Aging as Nearly There!, a lively folk and acoustic rock band, takes the stage. Playing together since 1974, the band features several Denver artists including Don Mares and Paul Wigton. This popular band plays a wide variety of songs from early American Tin Pan Alley, to the Beatles to John Denver. You’ll want to sing along as Nearly There! does what they do best, making people smile.
A special performance by Colorado New Style, is an exciting part of the entertainment this year. This high intensity dance group, fresh from the Santa Fe Art District, brings sophisticated and fun Latin Dance to the stage. You’ll be on your feet to join right in as you enjoy the best of Salsa and Bachata. Colorado New Style will jump start your day with colorful costumes and an upbeat, fast moving performance!
You won’t want to miss the fabulous One World Singers, a historical community chorus that performs in the Denver area. First organized 80 years ago, the large chorus presents a Broadway Cabaret of music including selections such from “My Fair Lady”, “Camelot” and “Paint Your Wagon”. Come be transported by the chorus and by comic and memorable solos and duets that recall golden hits of the stage.
This year’s event has a lot to offer for those who are interested in the wave of technology that’s now available and how technology improves our daily lives. Demonstrations and devices of all sorts will be available so you can brush up on your current tech skills or learn something new. From phones apps to life saving devices, this year’s “Tech Trek” technology theme promises to provide something for everyone.
