R&B Jukebox Sock Hop Dance Party
A “sock hop” is a dance party from the 50s and 60s where teens would take off their shoes and dance in their socks on the wooden floors in a local gymnasium. That’s how the gatherings got their name.
The show is made up of dance-related songs that were popular in the 50s and 60s. The Twist, The Jerk, The Watusi, The Stroll to name a few. Some of the artists you’ll hear are Hank Ballard and the Midnighters, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Chubby Checker, The Capitols, James Brown.
Just about every song in this show will be a “dance” of the time. It’s a great opportunity to show youngsters (and others) the steps!”
So…kick off your shoes and join Rolando Garcia for the Sock Hop Dance Party on Saturday, August 8, at 6pm. Only on KUVO JAZZ!
