Q: Forever on the Block; Rhythms from a Musical Life” on Groove Jazz Rendezvous
A debate that will swirl forever is which artist is America’s greatest African American composer, Duke Ellington or Quincy Jones. They both have such a body of work we’ll be listening and enjoying each for our lifetime. We’ll salute a selection of the Quincy Jones catalog with our send-off special, “Q: Forever on the Block: Rhythms from a Musical Life” mixed with quotable insights from man Lionel Richie also called, the “Master Orchestrator.” This will be a mix with a few quotable insights from “The Dude.”
He performed under the stars at Red Rocks on September 3, 1976, with his opening act, The Brothers Johnson which he also produced. His last public visit to Denver on October 10, 2009, was supporting the Global Down Syndrome Foundation as its spokesperson.
Join Groove Jazz Rendezvous host Adam Morgan as he brings Quincy back on Saturday, November 9 at 8 p.m. with Q: Forever on the Block: Rhythms from a Musical Life” with Adam Morgan.
