Program Special: Social Justice Music Edition | Jan. 16, 8 PM
KUVO’s smooth jazz session presents its second annual music edition honoring MLK Day, “For What It’s Worth,” airing Saturday, January 16 at 8 PM MT.
Groove Jazz Rendezvous host Adam Morgan will deliver this jazz and social justice music special inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King’s comments on jazz, written for the 1964 Berlin Jazz Festival’s program guide.
This special blends the music and jazz of the civil rights and other social movements with reflections on contemporary events and developments mirroring the work of Dr. King.
Featured artists include Kirk Whalum, Richard Elliott, David Sanborn, Smokey Robinson, Eric Clapton, Dave Grusin, Oletta Adams, Lee Ritenour, and more.
Civil rights commentary will include the statements of President Obama, Julian Bond, DeRay McKesson, an activist with Campaign Zero and the Black Lives Matter movement, and others.
“For What It’s Worth” is both produced and anchored by Morgan.
