Paul Shinn Quartet | Dec 12

Paul Shinn was born in Mainz, Germany and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He began studying classical piano at age 7 and began playing jazz in high school. After attending school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City and University of North Texas while studying under jazz musicians Bobby Watson, Bram Wijnands, and Steffan Karlsson. Shinn was part of KUVO’s 30 Under 30 program in 2015.

Paul played with the El Mambo Latin jazz group, with several big bands and most notably with his own trio in KC. Along with playing in several different bands, Paul is also an accomplished solo pianist, having been chosen as a semifinalist to attend the 2010 Bösendorfer Solo Jazz Piano Competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Paul’s sole goal as a performer is to create a musical environment that will connect with an audience and transmit expressions of joy that cannot be conveyed in any other way.
