One Thousand Nights at Caffè Sole — Triple Header!
On Friday, November 25, it’s an evening of The Best of the Blue Note with Rico Jones-tenor sax, Eric Gunnison-piano, Greg Gilbert-trumpet, Bill McCrossen-Bass, and Dru Heller-drums. This all-star ensemble includes some of Colorado’s finest jazz musicians for a night of the great straight-ahead classics recorded at the Blue Note in NYC. This is the last night for straight ahead Jazz at the Sole Jazz Supper Club this year and it is going to be a barn burner!
Saturday, November 26, features Jeff Nathanson and his band Tonal Triage. Per Jeff, “I will be joined by these fabulous musicians and friends: Peter Olstad-Trumpet, Dave Hanson-Piano, Mark Simon-Bass, and Sir Mike Marlier on Drums.” Jeff Nathanson has been a featured soloist and horn section member for Latin pop superstar Luis Miguel. He has toured and recorded extensively with Mr. Miguel, appearing on numerous albums and videos, and has performed thousands of concerts worldwide at venues including Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Staples Center, Aztec Stadium Mexico City, and Estadio Belez in Argentina.
Sunday night, November 27, Sherefe, our local favorite world music band returns to perform the music of the Balkans and the Middle East, with inspired improvisations, singing and dancing. These folks are very accomplished musicians that are dedicated to the authentic Balkan and North African folk traditions. With Jesse Manno on oud, bouzouki, saz, laouto, vocals; James Hoskins on cello, bouzouki, gudulka, vocals; Julie Lancaster on accordion, spoons, and vocals; Brett Bowen on doumbeks, frame drums, and tupan; Dexter Payne on clarinets and saxophone.
