On Stage — Women in Jazz
Throughout March, “On Stage” is celebrating women artists, as they were recorded at KUVO studios in the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio.
This Saturday, March 12, and Monday, March 14, we present a 2015 performance by drummer Colleen Clark. She is now Dr. Clark, being the only woman and drummer to earn a doctoral degree in jazz from the University of North Texas. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Jazz at the University of South Carolina.
We’ve also got pianist/composer/educator Carmen Sandim from a 2019 performance with bassist Bill McCrossen, guitarist Khabu Doug Young and drummer Dru Heller.
Vocalist Roxanne Brown sang at the Phyllis A. Greer Performance Studio in 2016 with pianist Bobby Green, bassist Dean Ross, and Drummer Kevin Smith.
Spherio performed on Thelonious Monk’s Birthday in 2017 (October 10) with pianist Tenia Nelson, bassist Bob Songster, and drummer Andreas Schmid.
Bassist/Vocalist Katie Thiroux stopped by KUVO in 2017 with pianist Steven Feifke and drummer Matt Witek.
Join host and producer Susan Gatschet for “Women in Jazz” on On Stage, Saturday, March 12 at 10:00 p.m. and Monday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. A KUVO JAZZ exclusive!
