On Stage: Power to the Piano!

Power to the piano!  The mother instrument! The 88s! The ivories!  On Sunday, June 16, at 4pm, KUVO’s performance archive show “On Stage” presents a salute to the piano, featuring five masters of the piano.

Count 2018 as one of KUVO’s best years for broadcasting solo piano performances. In January, Billy Childs visited KUVO during his national tour. During Jazz Appreciation Month, pianist-singer Joe McBride’s playing and crooning channeled Ray Charles while in Denver for his tribute show to the other blind musician. Eric Gunnison is no stranger to KUVO’s airwaves. Lenore Raphael’s technique mesmerized the Studio Club during her solo performance in May. Local piano hero Eric Gunnison shared some of his Keith Jarrett inspirations in June. Chuck Lamb peeled away from his national touring duties to visit KUVO for a thrilling set of Brubeck recollections in August.
