On Stage: Poetry and Jazz!
On Saturday, August 15 at 10pm, “On Stage” features a few jazz poetry sessions captured at KUVO with PoeJazz, the Lou Malandra Trio!
The May 2002 collaboration with pianist Doug Roche and Ron Bland on bass, features some memorable poems composed by Malandra. A couple of years later – in 2005 – drummer Jill Fredericksen joined the band for a KUVO session. Poe Jazz returned in 2006 for another set of classic jazz set to fiery lyrical prose by Lou Malandra. You’ll also hear poems read by KUVO’s Steve Chavis and Andy O’Leary and special guest Dr. Ramon Del Castillo.
“On Stage” is KUVO’s weekly deep dive into our archives. It’s a showcase for live music by local and national artists, rebroadcast as they were performed live in the Phyllis A. Greer Studio.
