On Sunday, April 22, KUVO’s archive show “On Stage” revisits the music of our “homegirl” and newest NEA Jazz Master, Ms. Dianne Reeves.

On Monday, April 16, 2018 at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Reeves was honored as an incoming NEA Jazz Master along with pianist Joanne Brackeen, guitarist Pat Metheny, and producer Todd Barkan. We’re proud to call her neighbor, because when Dianne Reeves is not performing in some far-flung concert hall or festival, Denver is her home. Part of being in the local jazz community is that she’s lives close enough to drop by the KUVO studios anytime.  On a few of those occasions, she opened up that world-class voice and sang!

Among the many sessions in our archives are a New Year’s Eve date at club known as Vartan Jazz. We’ve also got some charming duet sessions with her cousin, local pianist Purnell Steen, and with her longtime guitar companion Romero Lubambo.

Talk about a local girl who’s done well!  Don’t miss this celebration of Dianne Reeves on the next edition of “On Stage,” Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. It’s a KUVO exclusive!
