An ideal way to kick off the first New Music Monday during  Black History Month is our spotlight CD, a previously unreleased concert of Wes Montgomery in Paris-1965! Wes is accompanied by Harold Mabern, Arthur Harper, Jimmy Lovelace and Johnny Griffin who appears on 3 tracks. All the music on this double disc set has been remastered and authorized by the Montgomery estate.

In addition to Mr. Montgomery, we’ll debut new recordings by the gifted trombonist-composer and arranger, Michael Dease. His latest is “Reaching Out” with a nice blend of veteran and up n coming musicians. The all female Diva Jazz Orchestra is celebrating their 25th Anniversary in 2018 and they begin it with a spankin’ new album. Originally from Puerto Rico but now living in New York is the guitarist Fernando García whose debut “Guasábara Puerto Rico”  is garnering rave reviews from those writers who have received an advance copy.

We’ll fill out the hour with a few others recent arrivals so please, tune in or log on to check out New Music Monday hosted by yours truly, Arturo Gómez beginning at Noon, MTN time.
