New Music Monday: Mid-Summer Classics
Our highlight for this edition of New Music Monday, July 21st aired during Lunchtime at the Oasis with Arturo Gómez, Noon ’til 1pm is the newest by NEA Jazz Master, Paquito D’Rivera on his own Paquito Records; Jazz meets the Classics has the Paq-Man on clarinet and soprano sax accompanied by an international roster of outstanding jazz men as they play European and Cuban classics in a most delightful manner. Another spotlight lands on “Mr. Alto Madness”-Richie Cole with his new release recorded in Boulder with superb musicians from along the Front Range, Break Up has the expected rousing be-bop Riche excels at alongside some brilliant slower tempo renditions from both the jazz and pop songbook. Other features this week include a new one by Philadelphia trombonist, Robin Eubanks-Klassik Rock, Volume 1 with Robin’s siblings,Kevin and Duane on guitar and trumpet respectively among other solid players. As always we’ll have a local artist debut and a few other new arrivals to conclude the hour.
