New Music Monday: June 8 Line-up
As we head to the finish of another spring in order to begin summer, we are pleased to debut and share this week’s crop of new releases well-suited to be added to your summer’s playlist!
It has been more than 8 years since Maria Schneider last recording, she makes up for it big time with her new recording, an ambitious project titled, The Thompson Fields that includes a 70 page hard cover book with links to more information about the music inspired by southwest Minnesota, Maria’s home region.
The veteran and always swinging saxophonist Scott Hamilton’s new one is his versions of songs from the Jules Styne songbook. Scott Hamilton Plays Jules Styne is on the Blue Duchess Records label. From Los Angeles via Detroit is guitarist and educator Jaques Lesure with his sophomore effort, Camaraderie for the WJ3 Records label featuring the fine rhythm section of Eric Reed, Nat Reeves and Willie Jones III who owns WJ3 Records.
