The following selections will premiere on our airwaves on Monday, January 25 at noon.

Allan Harris: “Kates SoulFood” – The very talented vocalist, guitarist, actor and song writer Allan Harris’ latest recording is a tribute to his auntie Kate who owned a soul food diner in Harlem near the Apollo Theater where Allan would spend many a weekend. That experience growing up inspired Harris to compose the music of his brand new album.

Clifton Anderson: “Been Down This Road Before” – Trombonist Clifton is the nephew of Sonny Rollins. Anderson spent his young adult life touring with his uncle, both playing in the band and managing the group. For his first album in 10 years Clifton recruited some of jazz’s biggest name to accompany him in this stellar session.

Joe Chambers: “Samba de Maracatu” – From the 1950s through the 70s, the venerated multi-instrumentalist Joe Chambers appeared on dozens of Blue Note recordings with some of the most notable names of the era as well as recording as a leader. After years away Chambers returns to Blue Note with an outstanding album playing bop and Brazilian tune.

Every Monday beginning at noon, I debut the latest arrivals to KUVO Jazz, often ahead of their regularly scheduled release date. In addition to the music, I’ll provide a few tidbits about the artist in particular if it’s an new or up and coming artist.
