DazzleJazz is pleased to welcome distinguished pianist Monty Alexander back for two nights of performances on November 11 and 12.

In a career spanning five decades, Alexander has built a reputation for exploring and bridging the worlds of American jazz, popular song and the music of his native Jamaica, finding in each a sincere spirit of musical expression.

As a leader, Alexander has recorded more than 60 albums to date, and has reinterpreted the music of a diverse collection of his favorite artists including Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett and Bob Marley.

Alexander has performed and recorded with a wide array of renowned artists such as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Ernest Ranglin, Bill Cosby, Natalie Cole, Bobby McFerrin, Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare and others.

Alexander’s “Harlem Kingston Express” features both a jazz rhythm section and a Jamaican reggae flavored rhythm section. Sometimes, the two-bands-in-one play together, other times they alternate seamlessly, as the eclectic music demands.
