Money Jungle Double Drummer Series | Wednesdays

It’s September of 1962 and three great band leaders: Charles Mingus, Max Roach and Duke Ellington gathered in the studio to embark on a musical adventure and make their mark on the quickly developing post-bop modern jazz movement. The results are an intriguing mesh of voices – a tense conversation between instruments, sometimes bordering on argument, all the while showcasing the brilliance of each individual musician.

Denver pianist and composer Tom Amend is paying homage to Ellington, Mingus and Roach by curating a double drummer quartet for a 6 week run at Nocturne.

Supporting the musicians practicing their craft on our stage is important to us – we have an artist fee that ranges from $5 to $10 per person per night (for Artists in Residence) that is applied to all guest checks at the conclusion of an evening. This artist fee goes directly fund all the live music heard at Nocturne.
