Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra “Live In Cuba” | New Music Monday
One week before its official release date we debut the latest by the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis : Live in Cuba. Recorded in October of 2010, this double disc set is finally available. The orchestra played to standing room only audiences at Havana’s Mella Theatre over 3 nights performing jazz standards, originals and Afro-Cuban tunes. Also in this week’s line up is the Nigerian descent bassist, Essiet Okon Essiet’s new one, Shona featuring among others, Manuel Valera on piano and Lionel Loueke on guitar. The recording reflects Essiet’s West African heritage.
In addition to the previously mentioned we’ll premiere Memphis guitarist’s Lamar featuring former Denverite, Pat Bianchi, the veteran guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli’s Renaissance-A Journey from Classical to Jazz, another former Denverite, Michael Pagán checks in with a trio session titled the Ottawa Sessions recorded in downtown Ottawa, Kansas and the debut of the Electric Squeezebox Orchestra, Cheap Rent.
