Let’s have a Happy KUVO New Year! Holiday Line-up!

Join us for a great holiday line-up! With hundreds of holiday music projects in the KUVO Library, things will be sounding festive. Leave it to these jazz, blues, R&B, Latin and roots artists to come up with fresh interpretations of  holiday music we love. Here’s a list of special holiday shows coming up to celebrate a “Very Happy KUVO New Year! Enjoy!

FRIDAY, 12/29 – 10pm

Funky Boombox – The Best of 2017 and the Best of 1967

Everything Old is New again!   We’ll be playing the best soul and funk of 2017 side by side with the best soul and funk of 1967. Aretha Franklin, Jackie Wilson, and Ray Charles join Curtis Harding, Lee Fields and Will Session on the Final Friday of the year.

SATURDAY, 12/30 – 8pm

Groove Jazz Rendezvous – “2017 Top Smooth Jazz of the Year Countdown”

Don’t miss this annual presentation of the top smooth jazz songs of the year (according to music industry charts) with a special reflection on top Fourplay guitarist Chuck Loeb who left us during the year.

SUNDAY, 12/31 – 8am

La Nueva Voz presents an EARLY New Year’s Eve party

There will be danceable folkloric Latin music to get you in the mood just after the sun comes up. I promise I won’t have mimosas as part of the playlist!  BUT there will be lots of interesting news tid-bits from the Spanish speaking world from 2017 to close out the year.

“Toast of the Nation” from NPR

An NPR tradition every New Year’s Eve since the 1970s, Toast of the Nation is the perfect audio complement for the occasion. It’s festive jazz you can party to, anytime. Spirited, improvised, and swinging, each segment stops in a Blue Note venue throughout the country and the world! We’ll hear sets from The Dirty Dozen Brass Band in Hawaii, Joshua Redman and Brad Meldau in Tokyo, pianist Fred Hersch in Beijing, Ron Carter and Buika in New York City, and Dee Dee Bridgewater from Blue Note Napa.
