OKAN fuses Afro-Cuban roots with jazz, folk, and global rhythms in songs about immigration, resistance, and love, OKAN takes its name from the word for heart in their Afro-Cuban religion of Santeria. With vocals in Spanish, Yoruba, and Spanglish, OKAN is led by Cuban-born violinist and vocalist Elizabeth Rodriguez and percussionist and vocalist Magdels Savigne, both Grammy and Latin Grammy nominees.
After Party in the El Chapultec Louge with DJ Polvo de Muertos at 11 p.m.
DJ Polvo is a fan of dance music and psychedelic sounds. Collecting Chicano and Latin music is a passion of his. Being from the border he appreciates music from both sides and has built quite a music collection. He’ll be spinning some of that music for a late-night dance party!
