Christian Howes grew up in Columbus, Ohio, where he studied violin through the Suzuki method from the age of five, performed as a soloist with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra at age 16, and later earned his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the Ohio State University. During his teen years he began playing guitar and bass in rock, blues, and fusion bands. At age 20, he began playing violin in gospel church settings. These experiences ultimately led him to pursue a singular goal to become a versatile jazz musician and composer.Since then, he has gained respect from critics and players alike, establishing himself as a world-class jazz violinist and educator. From 2001-2009, Howes became an in-demand violinist on the New York scene, collaborating with a bevy of top shelf jazz artists, including Greg Osby, D.D. Jackson, Frank Vignola, Joel Harrison, Dafnis Prieto, Dave Samuels, Spyro Gyra, and a 4-year chair in Bill Evans’ “Soulgrass” band. Christian was a favorite of the late Les Paul, with whom he worked closely for 11 years. Following a three-year tenure as Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music and after establishing his “street cred” in New York City, Christian returned to his hometown in order to be close to family and focus on his own projects. Pianist, composer, and educator Reggie Berg hails from the small town of Auburn, IN and has been performing professionally since age 9. Berg placed as a finalist in the 2016 Thelonious Monk Institute auditions and performed for Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Jimmy Heath, and other eminent jazz artists. He can be heard on his own CD of solo piano compositions entitled, “My Spoken Heart,” Lynn Baker’s “Azure Intention,” Paul Mullikin’s “Fruition,” The Playground Ensemble’s “Dreams Go Through Me,” Vivian Li’s “Mississippi Waltz” and numerous other recordings. Berg’s greatest strength is his ability to navigate numerous genres with ease, whether performing or composing.  In just the past 5 months, Berg has toured as a jazz pianist with the Air Force Falconaires, performed on synthesizer and keyboards in an Incubus cover band and 70’s classic rock band, music directed Sondheim’s “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum,” performed as a soloist with the contemporary classical music group, The Playground Ensemble; served as a sight-reading pianist for opera and musical theater auditions, and lead “The Reggie Berg Trio” in various performances throughout Denver, CO.  Berg has worked alongside noted jazz professionals Endre Rice (Basie Orchestra), Don Byron (MSU Denver), Dave Devine (MSU Denver), studied with jazz gurus Fred Hersch, Kenny Werner, Luke Gillespie, Bill Dobbins, Harold Danko, and classical musicians Joel Lester (Mannes), Martina Arroya (NYC), and Sophia Rosoff (NYC).  Always embarking on new avenues of learning, Berg currently works under the tutelage of music business coach/jazz violinist, Christian Howes.
