KUVO Presents an Afternoon of Free Jazz Films | July 18
Join KUVO for a jazz filled Saturday afternoon matinee! We will be showing the jazz cartoon featuring Betty Boop and Cab Calloway, The Old Man of the Mountain, a 1970s jazz performance short featuring Donald Byrd and the Black Byrds, and the jazz documentary Jazz on a Summer’s Day (1960).
Following the film, a Q&A will be hosted by KUVO Music Director and Lunchtime at the Oasis host Arturo Gómez. Light refreshments and popcorn will be served.

Filmed at the 1958 Jazz Festival at Newport, RI, Jazz on a Summer’s Day affords an intimate, atmospheric glimpse of a historically significant musical event. Performing at the festival were jazz heavyweights Louis Armstrong, Chuck Berry, Thelonious Monk, Mahalia Jackson, Dinah Washington, Gerry Mulligan, and Anita O’Day among others.
