Anderies attended Mesa College (now Colorado Mesa University) and North Texas State University where he majored in jazz studies and flute performance and later graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver with degrees in Flute Performance and Music Education. He went on to earn a masters at the University of Colorado in Music Education and Saxophone.
Concluding more than 25 years of teaching in Douglas County and Denver Public Schools, Anderies recently retired in order to concentrate on performing, music publishing, and clinician initiatives.
Anderies past performance and recording experiences include the international group IMAGES that he helped form as well as collaborations with Rob Mullins, Ron Miles, Chuck Lamb, Eric Gunnison, Hugh Ragin, Paul Romaine, Kenwood Dennard, Bennie Maupin, and Nestor Torres.
Anderies continues to lead groups and produce jazz concerts in the Denver area primarily at the jazz venue Dazzle.
During his music education career, Anderies worked with hundreds of elementary students developing the “Music Beyond Borders” curriculum that features technology assisted jazz instruction, call and response improvisation work, and professional mentor integration.
Anderies expanded these concepts while teaching middle school, high school jazz camps, and at the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts. Anderies has also worked as adjunct professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver and led jazz clinics for both students and educators at numerous conventions and colleges.
Anderies has served as Colorado President of several jazz education organizations and is currently devoting time to help young people entering the education field. He is also a current board member of El Sistema Colorado, an arm of the ground breaking music education initiative to put instruments in the hands of disadvantaged youth.
