Who are you and what do you do?
My Name is DJ Tosh from Sacramento California.

How do you discover new and emerging artists to feature in your curated playlists?
I love to listen to other people around me. From my children and other DJs, I love to follow and learn from.

How do you navigate the challenge of introducing lesser-known artists to your audience while still satisfying their expectations?
I just set the groove and let the music do all the work. Another way to put it is that I use familiar sounds to introduce new ones to my audience.

Can you discuss the role of storytelling or narrative in the creation of your playlists?
For me, it’s like painting a picture of sounds. I try to put my audience in a setting that feels warm and familiar even though they may not know what I am playing.

How do you approach the challenge of creating playlists that appeal to a diverse and global audience?
I try to hit different sounds and textures to try to draw my audience into my world of music.

How do you connect with your audience, and what role do listener requests play in shaping your playlists?
I watch and feel what my audience is reacting to, and I just try to follow their lead and connect with them one record at a time.
